Best multiship fight I've had in a long time. Ended up in a 5 ship battle at the Reapers Hideout 3 Brigs and 2 Galleons. It was awesome, emergent tactical gameplay. Once it hit G5 we knew it would come for us, so we had to go and deal with it first. Last night as an Athena Grade 5 my crew was tracking the progress of a Reaper. It is just a sagte in Grade 5 Reaper I think the Grade 5 tracking is brilliant. The difference between their ship and the non-emissary ships is all in your head. If you see them coming your way on the map then just go somewhere else or sink them. Most are crewed by the same bumbling and clueless players as any of the other factions. How does that feel? Not really a problem is it? People somehow see the Reapers as some kind of overpowered ship crewed by a group of bloodthirsty and seasoned pirates. The Reaper emissary is seen and tracked as well, but they are visible all the time, even to non-emissary ships. Ships flying the other emissary flags have the same cannons, ammo, and weapons as Reapers. Your question makes it sound as if the other ships are at some disadvantage or something. Like I said, I had fun tracking and killing but we're talking about how fair it is, because my brother's right, running isn't an option, you can't lose a pursuer anymore.

Your only option when approached by a reaper is to kill them or sell your flag (or scuttle which deletes the flag in most cases and that's stupid). For example, these giant rats have far more detail than the ones included in the first Kickstarter. How does everyone feel about the tracking ability a reaper gets after reaching level 5? I had a bunch of fun the other night with some friends tracking and killing every emissary on the server, but my brother kind of has a good point, with tracking, a player can't hide anymore. So I'm thinking about revisiting some of these familiar figures. Also, I'm a much better painter than I was nine years ago. Since I mostly DM, I mainly need monster figures and at this point, other than some rather rare monsters, I've got a suitable miniature for most encounters.īones 5 is making me rethink that strategy: although I have many examples of monsters that are included in this set, such as kobolds, skeletons, or undead, the quality of the newest sculpts is so much better than those from earlier campaigns. I believe Reaper Bones 5 is the first set to use this material exclusively.Īlthough I've pledged all five campaigns, I've steadily been decreasing my orders, in part because I've had less time to paint, but mostly because I now have a fairly large collection of painted miniatures. Reaper has gradually tweaked the formulation and the current material, Bones Black, is stiffer and retains much sharper details-it seems almost as good as most metal castings. The advantage of this material was it was relatively cheap, but it was only so good at holding details and had a tendency to droop or bend. The first few campaigns used a relatively soft PVC-like plastic. Every iteration of this Kickstarter has shown steady improvement in both the quality of sculpts as well as the quality of casting.
